As a global leader in thermal management solutions, Cooliance designs and manufactures high-efficiency heatsinks for the renewable energy market.

Excellence in thermal management design is pivotal to the efficient power conversion of renewable energy sources.

Photovoltaic (Solar) panels capture photons from sunlight via an anti-reflective surface. Underneath the solar panel surface, is a network of semiconductors that convert the atoms released by the sunlight's photons into direct current (DC) electricity. This direct current feeds a solar inverter that converts the DC electricity into AC electricity for use in homes and businesses.

By definition, solar panels run very hot as they sit in direct sunlight, heating the electronics that convert the sun's energy into electricity. In the desert states in the USA, solar panels can reach 130 degrees. Photovoltaic panels operate most efficiently when they run at cooler temperatures. Passive or liquid-cooled heatsinks are used on the underside of solar panels.

Solar Converters and power converters in Wind Turbines, use semiconductor devices that produce high amounts of heat energy during the power conversion, transmission, distribution of electric power necessitating an efficient thermal management design.

Cooliance offers the following thermal management technologies for renewable energy applications:

  • Liquid-Cooled Cold Plates
  • Passive Heatsinks
  • Heatpipes
  • Forced Air Heatsinks
